The Guild Project
Welcome to the Guild
All good stories need to start somewhere, right?
Seems fitting that I talk about myself here, correct?
My name is Martin Popov, an independent marketing consultant and architect behind The Digital Guild Project. As of trying to start my company I am 25 years old and operating in Palma De Mallorca. Currently, the Digital Guild Project is the first business that I am starting, and I hope you can understand if I want to go above and beyond.
What exactly is The Digital Guild Project?
It's the company I'm trying to lift off. Through The Digital Guild Project I'll be helping startups and small businesses manage their marketing strategy by improving their marketing fundamentals and providing market insight. By marketing fundamentals, I'm referring to the 7Ps.
- The Price.
- The Place.
- The Product.
- The Promotion.
- The People.
- The Process.
- The Physical evidence.
The company offers solutions such as website designs, logo designs (premade or custom), creation of internal materials, market research etc. Essentially whatever behind the scenes desk work is required to make sound decisions, the company is there to do it.
Besides consulting, the company also offers market research and customer profile reports. These reports naturally are part of the consulting process but can be purchased separately if the client just wants access to the data.
Why did I start the company?
Several factors. I graduated with a degree in Marketing Management, worked as a research for one of the biggest media companies in Bulgaria and later worked as a Digital Account Executive for a different company. Now, when you hear the title "Digital Account Executive" what might come to mind is something glamorous, maybe something that involves me wearing a sharkskin suit and enjoying a 3 o'clock martini lunch with other proud sharkskin suit people. The reality was a lot humbler; doing reports from 9 to five for influential clients while my managers went on the 3 o'clock martini lunches. Without any kind of suits.
With humble work and a not-so-humble title, I got a taste of the important experiences one needs to when it comes to the field of marketing. I always wanted to start my own company and challenge myself. Leaving my old workplace has given me the liberty of dictating my own terms and creating solutions. I came to realize that even the little guy deserves access to marketing solutions. Afterall, it doesn't matter what size your company is as long as the product or service you provide is consistent and good and aligns with your customers. In my eyes it was an opportunity and I decided to get a hold.
Why did I pick the name "The Digital Guild Project"?
In the old days, a guild was a coalition of experts and merchants. Guilds were formed so that craftsmen had more control over trade, as well as a way to oversee the training of their respective crafts. Negative public opinion, population demands, and the dawn of industrialization resulted in the old guild system being abandoned.
Many guild behaviors are still exhibited to this day, such as apprenticeship programs. I didn't want my company to be just another company. I'm am aware it's just me and a handful of possible collaborators. A tight knit group. Calling it a guild felt more alluring in a way. To reflect that I'm practicing a specific craft, this case being marketing, and just a way to stand out from the crowd.
That and I'm a massive fantasy fan.
Who works for The Digital Guild Project?
There's me and a growing list of collaborators such as artists and translators.
Do I have to be in Palma De Mallorca to work with The Digital Guild Project?
No, you don't have to be in the same region. Although it'll help if you are, I am offering my consulting services to clients within the Schengen area.
